Are you too comfortable? From being a baby to growing into an adult, we not only have physical growth pains, but we also experience spiritual growth pains. What is greatness, really??
As always, I start with the basics. Here’s the definition . . . GREATNESS: Remarkable or #outstanding in magnitude, degree, or extent
Of outstanding significance or importance
Superior in quality or character; noble
Powerful; influential
Eminent; distinguished
I think there are some people that really shy away from greatness or maybe they just think that’s for someone else. It’s my belief that we are all called to greatness. With greatness comes accountability, so for some people that can be a very uncomfortable.
What I think is the real question, is why is it better to be comfortable? Why do you enjoy being comfortable when it comes to greatness?? That sounds like ground hogs day to me and there’s nothing comfortable about the same thing every day.
There’s so much beauty and knowledge that comes from growing beyond on our knowledge and comfort level. It’s like that can of whipped cream topping . . . your greatness is just sitting in that can, ready to come out and show itself to the world. All that fluffy, yummy greatness of you is being kept compacted inside of you. Just push the nozzle ever so slightly and give it a shot.
For me, there’s nothing like walking up to the fridge and getting a quick little squirt of yumminess on my finger. So, take it in baby steps if that’s easier, but at least take a step.
Okay, enough of the whipped cream analogy, someone’s mind is definitely not focused on greatness. So, I’ll switch to the picture of the butterfly cocoon and the process that it goes through. Sometimes the pain you are in may not make any sense, but please don’t give up. Sometimes you just have to stand. Then you can do like the butterfly and start to pump your wings so the blood flows and keeps flowing until it reaches the very tips of your beautiful wings and just at the right moment, you burst out of the cocoon completely ready and prepared to fly and float on the wind.
Just push through to the other side. The reward is so much greater than the pain and boredom you are in now.
Playing small is not only a loss for you, but for the whole world. You are unique and the only way any of us will ever get to know your gifts is if you push and grow into your greatness. Believe and it will be!
